Augusta, ME there was Elvis.  And there is Cher.  Now, there is Jewel.  All three were or are musical entertainers who are known by one name.  There is a new single-named personality to add to the growing list.  Her name is "Jocelin".  Unlike the single-named personalities in the music business, Jocelin is passionately involved in motorsports.  To be more precise, she's a motorcycle roadracer.

Jocelin, a 28-year old Maine native now living in Waterville, will be making a special guest appearance at the 12th ANNUAL Northeast Motorsports Expo and Trade Show, January 7-9, 2000, in the Augusta (Maine) Civic Center.  She will be greeting fans and signing autographs in the New Hampshire International Speedway display area during all three days of the motorsports showcase.

A motorcycle owner since the age of 10 (a dirt bike) and had drag raced motorcycles from 1991-96, the passion Jocelin has for motorcycle roadracing is only one year old.  Since completing a basic roadracing course in October of 1998, Jocelin's desire and talent drove her to attain "expert status" within the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) exactly one year to the day she passed her licensing test at the Penguin Roadracing School at NHIS.

Jocelin's rookie season as a motorcycle roadracer has been most notable by the number of podium finishes she has achieved.  Her 1999 season began in March with a second-place finish in a Formula Two race at the Roebling Road Raceway in Faulkville, GA.  A third-place finish in a Light Weight Grand Prix in May at NHIS followed, then her first win in Light Weight Grand Prix in July also at the Loudon, NH course.  Two days later, Jocelin recorded another Formula Two runner-up finish, this time at the Carolina Motorsports Park.  Her fifth top three finish of the season came in the AMA Grand Championships at NHIS where she placed second once again.

The young Maine motorcycle racer is also an accomplished businesswoman.  Jocelin owns Tri-Signs, Inc., located in Waterville, a four year old full service sign and graphics company.

Stop by the New Hampshire International Speedway booth, January 7-9, 2000, to meet Jocelin and see her newly acquired TZ250 Grand Prix Yamaha motorcycle.
